The Alabama School of Ministry (ALSOM) was created by the Alabama District Presbytery to serve as Alabama's official District School of Ministry (DSOM). ALSOM uses textbooks and exams produced by Berean School of the Bible, the national institute level distance education school for candidates seeking ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God. Instructors are chosen from among credentialed Assemblies of God ministers with expertise in each particular class being taught.
ALSOM classes are offered on Saturdays from August through November, and January through May. The Class Schedule linked below is offered at three locations. Classes always begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:00 p.m. In order to completely read the textbook before the class session, new students should enroll at least 3 weeks before their first class session. If you are beginning at the Certified level it is best to begin your course of studies at the beginning of the school year in August (making your first course Hermeneutics). However, you may choose to enroll at any point in the year, and begin with the next upcoming course on the ALSOM schedule as your first course. Enrollment applications are linked below. You can print and mail your completed enrollment form to: Alabama School of Ministry, 5919 Carmichael Road, Montgomery, AL 36117-2507.
Anyone choosing to attend should contact the school at 334-279-7172 ext 8 for instructions on how to order the materials for each class at a discount. Again, textbooks should be ordered and read before class time. We look forward to working with you as you prepare for service in God's Kingdom.
Blessings to you,
Rev. Michael D. Sharp, D.Min.
